Aloha,
This site was lovingly created by a dear friend to enable us to connect with those of you who have the compassion and resources in this now to assist us in co-creating a miracle.
My child Devin, now 18, was challenged with a severe form of what was officially diagnosed as fibromyalgia at the age of 9 1/2. The reality of his condition is excruciating pain 24/7, nausea, dizziness, and severe migraines resulting in the inability to eat or even urinate for extended periods of time. The medication prescribed to provide some degree of relief costs us over $1,300 per month coupled with additional medical expenditures bringing out of pocket expenses to ~$2,000 per month. I care for my child round the clock alone and can therefore not seek employment for additional income and must rely on a fixed income from an early retirement of my husband. Unfortunately, it is just enough so we are not eligible for any government assistance programs, but no where near enough to cover the medical expenses and cost of living for a family. Last May my husband broke his back and was unable to work for several months. He has only recently been able to return to work on a part-time basis. Our situation will become more severe in July of this year due to a clause in my husband’s early retirement agreement which will decrease his retirement income by $18,000 per year commencing on his 62nd birthday. He was employed as a public school teacher his entire working career and unfortunately in the state we reside, teachers pay into something other than social security so he will only be eligible for a minimal amount. Currently our house is in foreclosure and is up for sale at auction for back taxes and mortgage payments. Should this happen, we shall be forced to relocate rather rapidly, with no resources to find a home. After the reduction in the retirement payments, we will not even be able to afford our child's medication. Devin is far to too ill to move at this juncture, and I could only manage to move him slowly, if I had the resources to have his special hospital bed, and the contents of our home relocated and in place before his arrival. My younger son, Eamen is a real blessing. He is so full of life, committed to living in the present and freely sharing the wonders of existence with all. Even though this little one is empathic to his sibling’s illness and our current situation, his beautiful light remains a beacon for us all.
Devin has deteriorated physically since he became ill in 1999. Due to pain his height has been curtailed, along with his weight and strength being significantly reduced. His ability to perform activities such as mountain climbing, inline skating, horseback and motorcycle riding has been reduced to needing assistance to go to the bathroom. At the age of nine he enjoyed discussing black holes with a scientist, and designing with zoom tool created for NASA. The stress of our situation has exacerbated his condition and I would be eternally grateful to have some of that stress lifted so we can assist him to return to the being he once was, and allow him to blossom and fulfill his mission.
In the past I have always been one to give as that is my Joy, but the Universe has decided to place me in the role of needing to receive. We would be most grateful for any contribution to save our home and continue to provide medication for Devin. If you have the resources, and your heart is aligned with this request, we most humbly thank you for any and all assistance.
grace and Joy all ways~ Kris
